Improve Quality of Life

Replace aging compact refrigerators at AFRH-Gulfport, install sun screen canopy for outdoor veranda at AFRH-Gulfport, revitalize and/or replace existing recreation equipment at both facilities.

Foster Excellence

Revitalize the Fitness Center at AFRH-DC and Complete Phase I plans for Modernization of the AFRH-DC Dining Facility, Relocate outside physical exercise locations to improve resident access.

Help us meet our goal

The Old Soldiers Home Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for our veteran residents in Gulfport MS and Washington DC. Our 2020 goal is to raise awareness, build a network of strategic partners, and generate $100,000 in funds that will directly support our veteran residents through a variety of projects that most directly impact quality of life.


Projects Completed

New Gardening Equipment

Provided new gardening equipment at the AFRH-Washington, DC campus to support the resident gardening program, featured in the July 2020 edition of the AFRH Communicator


COVID Mask Sewing

Provided new heavy duty sewing machine at AFRH-Washington, DC campus to help staff and residents make cloth masks at the start of the COVID-19 outbreak


New Medical Refrigerators

Provided medical-grade refrigerators for upper level of care units at the AFRH-Washington, DC campus.  A special thank you to the Fort Myer Thrift Shop for providing us a grant to help with this project!
