Sponsoring an Eagle Scout project

On May 14, 2022, Eagle Scout candidate Andrew Binetti brought a group out to complete his project to restore the fishing ponds area at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, DC. The group installed new benches and replaced worn seating slats on others, repainted a carved-wood fish at the ponds’ entrance, and did a general cleanup of the area around the ponds. The Old Soliders Home Foundation was proud to fully fund the project with an $1,800 grant. Veterans who live at the Armed Forces Retirement Home enjoy the ponds for catch-and-release fishing and as a quiet place to relax on the home’s grounds.
