Thanking resident volunteers

Old Soldiers Home Foundation board members were proud to join AFRH staff on Apr. 26, 2023 to recognize residents who volunteer around the home. This was the first volunteer appreciation event in over three years since the COVID pandemic prevented holding large gatherings. Volunteer Coordinator Marine Robbins led the event, which began with a memoriam honoring those resident volunteers who had passed away during that time, including our founder and former president David Pauling. Ms. Robbins then individually recognized by name and with a handwritten note each of the over fifty residents who had volunteered around the home for everything from helping staff the library to delivering meals and mail to fellow residents when they were in COVID isolation. The Old Soldiers Home Foundation was proud to help sponsor the appreciation event by providing gift cards for a volunteer drawing, as well as pastries from Dog Tag Bakery which helps veterans transitioning to civilian life gain personal, social, and professional skills through their Dog Tag Fellowship Program.
