Washers and dryers installed

The Old Soldiers Home Foundation worked with Alliance Laundry Systems in Ripon, WI through their Alliance Laundry Cares initiative to donate and install ten new pieces of commercial-grade Speed Queen washers and dryers for veterans to use in the resident laundry room at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, DC. On Apr 5, 2023 a team of technicians from Alliance’s east region office in Hagerstown, MD came to AFRH to remove old machines and install beautiful new ones, including two front-loading washers to make it easier for residents in wheelchairs and mobility devices to do their laundry. Afterwards the install team joined residents and staff for lunch in the resident dining room. Foundation board member (and photographer) Mike Hoth was on hand for the installation and to take a few photos. Mike hails from Ripon and his father worked at Speed Queen for 30 years, at the same time as Alliance’s current communications manager Betsy Heffernan’s grandfather worked there.
